Trivia Questionâť“

What recreational facility built in 1927 was one of the first amenities included in Venice’s original master-planned city design?

Answer at the bottom of the newsletter

Village on the Isle in Venice, Florida, is launching a major $78 million expansion to answer rising demand for independent senior living.

The project will bring 54 modern residences across two five-story buildings, with spacious units measuring 1,300 to 1,800 square feet.

This growth complements the community’s existing 234 independent living units, opening even more opportunities for seniors seeking an active lifestyle.

The Core, a new wellness center, will anchor the development with a fitness center, indoor pickleball court, spa, sauna, and zero-entry outdoor pool.

A poolside lounge complete with a pizza oven will further foster community and relaxation.

Pre-sales began in September 2024 and, with nearly 96% of units already reserved, interest is soaring.

Construction is on track for completion by late 2026, reaffirming Village on the Isle’s dedication to ...

Big news for food lovers and community folks in Venice.  A Brand-new restaurant and bar called Coach’s Bar and Grill is gearing up to open its doors in the heart of downtown Venice at 124 W. Venice Avenue (view on Google Maps) — right where 124 Breakfast, Lunch, & More used to be.

Coach’s is shaping up to be more than just another place to eat — it’s being designed as a true neighborhood gathering spot, welcoming families, friends, and visitors alike for great food, cold drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere. The owners plan to offer seating for nearly 100 guests inside, plus about 40 more on a comfortable outdoor patio perfect for sunny Florida days and breezy evenings.

The menu is being built around homemade favorites with plenty of variety, from juicy ribeye steaks and lobster rolls to wings, creative sandwiches, and even Cajun-style dishes. Everything is made from scratch — yes, even the fries — and includes a mix of classic comfort food and chef-inspired plates designed to appeal to all tastes.

Coach’s Bar and Grill is a family-run business, with owner Rob Burton leading the charge alongside his wife Jennifer and daughter Brooke. Their vision is to make this restaurant a place where regulars feel welcome, local schools and teams are supported, and neighbors have somewhere to connect over good food and good company.

They’re targeting a February 1–15 opening, with seven-day service beginning at lunch and running into the evening — and talk of future brunch hours is already in the works.

If you’re in the mood for something new to try in downtown Venice, keep an eye out for Coach’s Bar and Grill — it’s definitely ...

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is expanding with a new endoscopy center next to its Venice hospital, aiming to boost digestive health services for the local community.

The Sarasota County Public Hospital Board approved this $12 million outpatient facility, to be built at 2695 Curry Lane in Nokomis.

Flagship Healthcare Properties is developing the three-story, 54,000-square-foot medical office building, where Sarasota Memorial will lease at least one floor for a 17,000-square-foot digestive health center.

The new center will include 24 exam rooms, four procedure suites, and dedicated spaces for patient care before and after procedures.
