Walmart's Acquisition of Laurel Road Site Highlights a Major Area of Commercial Focus in Venice

After much speculation, it's now confirmed: Walmart has officially acquired a 22-acre parcel at the northwest corner of Twin Laurel Boulevard and Laurel Road in Venice, Florida.

 

According to recent reports, the retail giant purchased the property for $20.8 million, solidifying its presence in the rapidly developing area.

 

The Venice site, located just east of Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Venice, is strategically positioned to serve the growing population in the region. While specific development plans have yet to be announced, the purchase underscores the increasing commercial interest along Laurel Road.

 

In recent years, this corridor has seen significant growth, including the approval of a 264-unit multifamily development known as Laurel at Venice and the city's purchase of land for a new park to accommodate the expanding community.
