Founded in 1926, Venice has always celebrated its coastal charm, historic architecture, and tight-knit community spirit. In 2026, the city will commemorate a century of growth, change, resilience, and neighborhood stories. The centennial is not just a single date—it’s an extended period of gatherings, lectures, artistic displays, contests, and community engagement that will unfold through mid-2027.
The city has just revealed its first two major celebrations: a museum exhibit that opened on September 2, 2025, and a Centennial Parade only 6-7 weeksfrom now on November 29, 2025. These events mark the official start of an 18-month celebration honoring “Venice Turns 100.”
The Museum's “Venice Turns 100!”—will trace Venice’s evolution from a small town in Southwest Florida to the vibrant city it is today. Expect archival photographs, artifacts, oral histories, maps, and curated displays showing the evolution of downtown, the growth of neighborhoods, the rise of tourism, and the civic milestones that shaped the city.
Venice will formally launch the public face of its centennial celebration with the Centennial Parade on Saturday, November 29—traditionally the date of the city’s Holiday Parade in the downtown district. This year, the parade will carry extra significance: floats, community groups, and marchers will be invited to lean into the centennial theme, spotlighting Venice’s heritage, civic identity, and local organizations that have shaped the city.
As the first major public event of the centennial period, the parade is expected to draw wide participation—from schools, clubs, historic societies, and local businesses. It’s a visible, joyful way for the city to say “Venice Begins 100” to residents, neighboring communities, and visitors alike.
Together, they knit a dual narrative of heritage + forward momentum. By opening with a historical exhibit and following closely with a parade, Venice builds both context and excitement right out of the gate.
Should be a fun time our history!
