Across North Port and Venice, a spirit of generosity is rising through events that prove community compassion can be as powerful as any policy. The Child Protection Center (CPC) is leading that charge—transforming two joyful gatherings into engines of hope: the upcoming Night of Hope & Healing, and the recently celebrated Celebrity Bartender Challenge.
The Celebrity Bartender Challenge, held earlier this month in Venice, wasn’t just about who could mix the best cocktail—it was about pouring hope back into the lives of local children. Featuring eight “celebrity” bartenders from across Sarasota County, the friendly contest raised nearly $10,000 for CPC’s vital programs that support families, educate communities, and provide direct services to victims of child abuse.
Drinks like the “Ebony & Ivory” Chocolate Orange Martini took home crowd-favorite honors, while the evening itself built momentum for the organization’s flagship fundraiser, Night of Hope & Healing.
Scheduled for Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Venice Community Center, the 10th anniversary of Night of Hope & Healing promises to be a celebration that fuses elegance with purpose. Guests will enjoy tasting stations from more than ten local restaurants, signature cocktails, live music by Occasions, casino-style games, therapy dogs from CPC’s PAWS program, and both live and silent auctions.
More than a gala, it’s a gathering of hearts determined to ensure every child in Sarasota and DeSoto counties has the chance to grow up safe and loved.
This year’s events mark a decade of CPC’s message of healing. Accredited by the National Children’s Alliance, the center has served thousands of children annually through prevention, intervention, and treatment programs.
The twin success of the Bartender Challenge and the upcoming gala demonstrates a powerful local truth: philanthropy can be fun, but its purpose is deadly serious. When neighbors gather, funds flow directly into services that detect, prevent, and respond to abuse.
The energy generated by the bartender event now fuels community excitement heading into the Night of Hope & Healing. By turning casual supporters into long-term advocates, CPC is redefining how a nonprofit sustains awareness: start with a toast, end with transformation.

As the city gathers once again for a night dedicated to compassion, CPC’s message echoes across every table and every glass raised: hope is something we build together—one event, one donation, one child at a time.
