Campbell's Accomplishments Recognized

Public Recognition for a Private Benefactor

The  City of Venice will honor longtime resident and civic advocate Ed Campbell with the Mayor’s Pillar of the Community Award during Tuesday’s City Council meeting. The award recognizes individuals whose contributions significantly strengthen the cultural, civic, and social life of the community.

Ed Campbell is widely known for his steady commitment to Venice’s arts and civic organizations. He and his wife, Debbie, are listed sponsors of the  Venice Art Center , supporting the institution’s educational programs and cultural events. Campbell has also contributed his time and leadership within Venice civic groups. Records show he previously served as past president of the Kiwanis Club of Venice, a role documented in nonprofit minutes published by the State College of Florida Foundation .

He has also provided service as a board member and treasurer for local nonprofit initiatives, offering financial and organizational expertise to community projects. These verified contributions—philanthropy, board service, and civic leadership—reflect a consistent pattern of Campbell strengthening Venice’s community institutions.

The Mayor’s Pillar of the Community Award highlights residents who exemplify volunteerism, civic responsibility, and long-term dedication to improving local quality of life. By honoring Campbell, the city emphasizes the importance of individuals who support cultural assets, mentor community organizations, and model public service.

The award presentation will occur early in the City Council meeting agenda. Following the presentation, Campbell will be recognized publicly, with remarks from city leadership acknowledging his longstanding contributions. For Venice residents, the ceremony serves as both a celebration of Campbell’s service and a reminder that community-building thrives when individuals, nonprofits, and local government work collaboratively.

Campbell’s recognition stands as an example of how steady involvement, arts support, and civic commitment form the foundation of a strong and connected community.  Congratulations, Mr. Campbell!
